The general manager of Foodstuffs Own Brands Ltd (FOBL), Rod Gibson - also known as the head of Pams - is moving out of grocery to become chief executive of Vetcare and Animates.
FOBL develops and markets own brands including Pams, Pams Finest, Value and Pams Superfoods, among others.
Gibson first worked with Foodstuffs 11 years ago, joining the team as group manager for Pak’n Save. He was chief executive of Liquorland for three years before shifting to FOBL, where he stayed for four years. Gibson has also previously held senior management roles at Shell NZ.
Steve Anderson, managing director of Foodstuffs NZ, says Gibson is leaving Foodstuffs Own Brands in a very strong position.
“Rod’s passion and dedication has put our Private Label products at the heart of millions of New Zealanders’ picnics, refrigerators and pantries. With his leadership, Pams, Pams Finest, Value and Pams Superfoods have seen unprecedented growth and continue to be one of the key drivers of customer preference. These iconic brands enable New Zealanders to access top quality fresh food and groceries at affordable prices.”
The Vet Care Group operates 61 Vetcare clinics, grooming salons, Animates pet care stores around New Zealand. The first store opened in Christchurch in 1995, and the chain is now jointly owned by Australian specialty pet care firm Greencross with New Zealand healthcare and animal care provider Ebos Group.
Gibson will stay in his role at Foodstuffs Own Brands until the end of March 2019. An executive search is now underway to fill his shoes.
