LeeAnn Yare of Newmarket homewares store Collected and Tamzyn Adding of furniture company Miss Lolo are fundraising for the Mercy Hospice Auckland by each giving a piece of secondhand timber furniture a makeover. The items are to be auctioned on Trade Me, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the hospice.

About 20,000 tonnes of waste – equivalent to the volume of waste that fills the space of Eden Park – is diverted away from landfills every year, thanks to Foodstuffs recycling projects. This week Foodstuffs announced it had extended its recycling bag scheme to Canterbury.
