Briscoe posts profit but can’t woo Kathmandu shareholders

Briscoe Group has announced its first-half profit increased 11 percent, but despite its success, Kathmandu shareholders aren’t biting. The retailer has revealed that it has gained just 2.3 percent of the 80.1 percent of Kathmandu shares it doesn’t own in its takeover attempt.

Hot Hamburglars and kale for breakfast: McDonald’s attempts to breathe life back into its brand

McDonald’s is working to bring the lovin’ back into its brand after its sales dropped 7 percent in 2014. CEO Steve Easterbrook said this week he plans to completely overhaul the company, cutting costs, sprucing up its menu and restructuring its empire. But to remain relevant, McDonald’s is going down some wacky avenues, pursuing a revamp of its Hamburglar character and adding kale to breakfast meals.

Kathmandu delays new store openings after $1.8 mil loss

Christchurch-based company Kathmandu has posted a $1.8 million loss in the six months ending January 31. The loss has been attributed to aggressive discounting around Christmas and poor trading in January.
