Z Energy to acquire Caltex and Challenge owner Chevron

Petrol company Z Energy has been cleared by the Commerce Commission to acquire the owner of rival gas stations Caltex and Challenge. Z owns just over 200 service stations and supplies a few more independently-owned stations which bear its branding, while Chevron supplies around 150 Caltex-branded service stations.

Buy beer, save the world: DB Export and Gull release 'Brewtroleum' petrol

Petrol retailer Gull has partnered with beer company DB Export to become the first service station in New Zealand to offer a beer byproduct to fill cars. The biofuel product is made from yeast leftovers and has been dubbed 'Brewtroleum'.
