Supermarkets in France banned from throwing away food

French supermarkets are now barred from deliberately spoiling unsold food so it cannot be eaten. France’s parliament has voted unanimously to ban its supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food. Instead, they must donate it to a charity or repurpose it as animal feed.
