Contactless card fees could cost retailers billions over the next 10 years, says report

Charges on contactless credit and debit cards in 2015 could cost shoppers and retailers $380 million per annum, a report has found, and this could almost double annually in the next 10 years. As a result, Retail NZ is calling for greater transparency of fees set by banks and card companies.

Everybody seems to be swept up in the excitement surrounding contactless payments, but many seem to be lacking the knowledge about it. Smartpay has found in a survey that 71 percent want more education on what contactless payments are and how they work.
