Closest to our hearts (and waistlines)
Here at The Register and NZ Retail, we try not to play favourites, yet our love for Moustache Milk and Cookie Bar owned by Aucklander Deanna Yang is very apparent. Many boxes of cookies have graced our desks, with cookie cakes being a common sight for birthdays and deadlines. Moustache’s constant experiments and dependably amazing creations always make for a good excuse to venture out of the office.
Runner up: Fresh Collective, Crave café and Onceit have been frequently visited by the team this year.
Winner: Jon Macdonald – Trade Me
After over a decade Jon Macdonald certainly made his mark, making Trade Me one of New Zealand’s trusted marketplaces. The business had many firsts with Macdonald, from buy-now pay later systems, buyer protection and even a move to the living wage. With a replacement expected in December of 2018, it is certain the business will not feel the same without Macdonald at its helm.
Runner up: Simon the LifeDirect sloth, who met an untimely end while hiking.
