Dessert fiends have been treated well this year so far. Now with the new announced arrival of Australian doughnut brand, Dreamy Donuts, the year has gotten even sweeter.
After existing via kiosks across Australasia, Dreamy Donuts has secured several retail spots to bring Kiwi fans its 100 different doughnut recipes. The firsts will be popping up at Muffin Break Sylvia Park from 12 November for three weeks only, then appearing throughout summer at a raft of secret locations across the country.
Jon Hassall, general manager of Foodco New Zealand, says the brand has been secretly selling in some of our locations to get a idea of the market, and has high hopes after positive feedback.
“We announced our trial locations exclusively via social media, customers found the locations and we sold 100 percent of the stock… The results were well beyond our expectations.”
With the arrival of Krispy Kreme and their announcement of a third CBD location, it is an interesting time to bring a competing doughnut brand into our smaller shores. Yet Hassall is positive that they have the upper hand.
“We started our plans before Krispy Kreme launched and whilst it may take them a while to open across the country, our pop-up, mobile format means we can react quicker to customer demand… We can pop-up or down and trial a new area, a new retailer or an event with ease. We can also react to customers response very quickly.”
To embrace the easy-going kiwi summer attitude, Dreamy Donuts will also be available as an UberEats pop-up. These irresistible donuts will also come in convenient packs of six or 12, starting from $3.00.
