The Iconic celebrates seven years with sale and stats

The Iconic is celebrating its seventh birthday with a sale and the release of its ‘Birthday Trend Report’. According to the report, over the past seven years New Zealanders have been among the most likely to shop with The Iconic during a sale.

The Iconic, based in Sydney, sells fashion and sportswear and is one of Australia’s largest ecommerce sites.

The website has 12 million monthly visits while the app has over 2 million downloads, making it Australia’s most popular fashion app. No statistics for New Zealand were available.

The top-selling item in 2018 and for The Iconic’s lifetime has been the Chuck Taylor All Star Ox sneakers. The top five best selling items since 2011 are all shoes.

Basics are also big sellers with 150,000 white t-shirts and 200,000 pairs of jeans sold yearly.

Comparing New Zealand to Australian states, New Zealand is ranked number four in terms of time spent online shopping. The clear winner was New South Wales, customers from which spent three times as long engaging in online shopping as those from the state in second place, Victoria. Queensland was third.

New Zealanders were also among the most likely to shop during a sale, behind the Northern Territory and Queensland.

The Iconic’s chief executive officer Patrick Schmidt says that its success is down to the company’s team of 750.

“Not only have we shipped a whopping 13 million orders since we launched in 2011, our customers have spent the equivalent of over 1,100 years shopping with us in 2018 alone.

“We've also welcomed over 300 new brands to The Iconic since our last birthday, taking us to over 1,000 brands on site.”

There are over 60,000 products on the site, with 200 new arrivals daily.The Iconic is holding a birthday sale event to celebrate its anniversary.
