Technology has aimed to add convenience to all parts of life, food delivery included. As our nation's love for dining out and ordering in has meant food delivery providers have had to keep up with increasing demand. Menulog, for example, has included a new people’s choice vote in its winter Restaurant Awards.
The biannual awards by Menulog include staple categories such as best burger, Indian, Thai and Japanese among others. But now the introduction of the people’s choice award means all restaurant partners have a chance at the title, rather than just being judged on performance.
Menulog New Zealand manager, Paul Dodds, said, “Menulog’s mission is to help local restaurants promote their business, boost orders and drive sustainable growth. The Menulog Restaurant Awards have always been an integral part of the Menulog offer for restaurants, however the introduction of the new People’s Choice Award takes this to the next level.
“People’s Choice opens up this opportunity to all valued restaurant partners, regardless of size or location, as well as giving Kiwis the chance to vote for their favourite and potentially take home a prize themselves for their efforts.”
Dodds says the awards continue to grow as more restaurants use Menulog’s online ordering technology to meet increasing demand from customers for home delivery.
“There are some great restaurants out there, that may not necessarily do the order numbers that some of the more popular or metro outlets do, but their reputation and great food make them neighbourhood favourites.
“We think some of the country’s best kept secrets will be revealed - that’s if their loyal customers are willing to share the secret with the rest of New Zealand.”
Nominations close on August 30, while the winners will be announced October 2.
Its clear for Kiwis that being able to have anything delivered home is an important part of how we shop. Uber Eats, which launched in 2017, saw mass approval, and recently won NZ Retail's Hotlist award for hottest ecommerce launch.
