Mitre 10 stores in Papamoa, Napier and Taupo were judged top of 41 stores nationwide at the Mitre 10 New Zealand awards. The awards acknowledge the efforts of Mitre 10 team members across the country.

Mitre 10 Papamoa picked up the 2017 Store of the Year award at the awards ceremony, which was held in Auckland last week. It’s the second time the store has taken out the top prize in four nominations.

Co-owner Brian Johnstone says that since the store opened in 2005, he and co-owner Loretta Johnstone have loved serving the people of Papamoa, and couldn’t have done it without their great store team

“The Papamoa store stood head-and-shoulders above the rest this year. They were truly focused on customer service, consistently giving customers the best possible experience and always going above and beyond to meet customers’ needs. Brian, Loretta and the team should be proud,” says Mitre 10 chief executive Neil Cowie.

Mitre 10 Mega Napier was crowned the 2017 Mitre 10 Mega Store of the Year This was the second time the Napier store has received the Store of the Year award.

The store’s general manager retail Rodger van der Gulik praised the team’s pride in delivering quality customer service, and owners Graeme and Stephen Ricketts also thanked the team.

“Store manager Todd Donaldson does a great job looking after the team who work hard every day to keep the store looking great, while keeping up with the latest products and delivering the best customer service,” says Graeme Ricketts.

“We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements and they definitely deserve this recognition.”

Mitre 10 chief executive Neil Cowie says the Napier branch stood out from the rest by going the extra mile to meet customers’ needs and consistently provided exceptional service throughout the store.

Garden Centre of the Year was won by Mitre 10 Mega Taupo. Judges commented on its garden centre team’s “friendly, first-class service to customers”.

Mitre 10 Mega Taupo retail manager Deane Egerton says the team had been working towards winning this award for two years after coming runner-up last time. Owner operator Craig Ladbrook says the award was fantastic recognition of the branch’s work.
