A 99-year-old business, Moore Wilson’s, has opened its first nautical-inspired bottle store. Based alongside its Porirua store, the Wine, Beer and Spirits store is a welcome addition to the Moore Wilson’s family.
The Porirua location opened in 1960 and now welcomes the heavily nautical themed store into the mix. The store is based upon the regions sea-side locations with the unique concept brining both New Zealand’s stunning imagery and retail together in one place.
Old Kayaks hang from the walls as a large wooden boat serves as the counter. The store includes screen printed scenes on each wall with certain areas made to look like boating sheds – but is where you’ll find the beer.
The bulk warehouse has had several uses over the years, from housing a Farmers Market to acting as a distribution centre for the company’s four stores. In late 2016 it became home to Porirua’s top selection of Wine, Beer & Spirits.
The stores design was carried out by Miramar’s Human Dynamo Workshop, who have a long-standing relationship with Moore Wilson’s, while photography from Grant Sheehan greets the customers upon entrance.
Moore Wilson’s places a lot of importance on low prices while still delivering quality within their selected brands, and the bottle store will be no expectation.
The new store includes craft beer and wines from all around the world inside brightly coloured custom-built boat sheds. Educated staff are there for the retailer to best serve the customer, adding to the Moore Wilson’s experience.
Previously exclusive to Moore Wilson’s Tory Street, fresh craft beer taps are a new addition to the Porirua Bottle Store, with a changing selection of craft beers being poured through the PEGAS CrafTap system. Local favourites Garage Project and Te Aro Brewery will make regular appearances.
This is a project close to the hearts of the Moore family, keen boaties and strong supporters of water sports in the region.
The new design is one of a kind and completely New Zealand at the same time, creating a one of a kind experience for its shoppers.
