Matakana-based homeware store, Green with Envy, has received one of the top prizes at the International Homewares Association Global Innovation Awards.
The event featured nominees such as Amazon and other large big box retailers, but ultimately New Zealand brand Green with Envy took home the top prize.
The awards are held annually in 25 countries around the globe, this year the night was held in Chicago, USA.
The growing obsession for homewares is something Green with Envy has used well to their advantage, offering an extensive luxe range of items on their website and their physical store.
According to the release, Judges praised Green with Envy’s beautifully curated collection of unique homewares, their incurable passion for customer service, and the attention to detail that elevates a simple transaction into a memorable and enjoyable shopping experience.
The owner, Nicole Ward, says her business began after friends praised her skills of finding interesting homeware items overseas.
“I saw an opportunity and decided to set up a website. At the time, there was very little online shopping in New Zealand. The Business grew rapidly from there.”
In 2014 the business outgrew the Matakana garage she was using for storage and began searching for local premises.
“One minute Green with Envy was an online store with a need for storage – and the next, the bricks and mortar shop was leading the way.”
Ward travels frequently to source her carefully selected products for the shop and is very professionally driven when it comes to her shop displays.
“To me, great retail is about making every customer feel special. We’re always looking for more products that we know our customers will love and enjoy.”
