Online suit tailor InStitchu opens Auckland showroom

With showrooms in Sydney and Melbourne already, the brand is set on global expansion and aims to become a household name worldwide.

Long-time friends and co-founders of InStitchu, Robin McGowan and James Wakefield, began their bespoke brand in 2012.

They say Auckland was the “obvious choice” for their first international showroom as it becomes more culturally developed.

“The city culture is thriving and gentlemen are ready to give something new and exciting a try,” says McGowan.

The company has done its research on local clothing demand, citing New Zealand’s most recent Retail Trade Survey, which shows clothing sales rose 5.8 per cent in the third quarter of 2016.

“New Zealand men’s fashion is at a great place right now and we look forward to seeing the stylish and creative suits our New Zealand customers come up with,” says McGowan.

At number 12 O’Connell St, the InStitchu showroom is an extension of the brand, where suit wearers can be measured before trying on outfits.

“New customers will love the old-world charm of our showroom, and we invite Aucklanders to come in to be measured, try on a suit and enjoy a whiskey during their experience,” says McGowan.

The measurements will then form a profile for the customer, who can log in to the brand’s online store and create a bespoke suit within minutes, delivered in three to four weeks.

InStitchu is a leading online suit tailor that champions reasonably priced, flexible fashion for men.

“All over the world there is an increasing demand for professional, affordable quality menswear,” says McGowan.

“We simply work to provide our customers with as many options as possible, resulting in a truly flexible shopping experience.”
