Target Australia starts selling through Trade Me

The range will include womenswear, with designer collaborations, maternity and plus size ranges, as well as menswear, kids’ clothing and baby gear.

Trade Me said in a statement it’s working on bringing on board suppliers who’ve got a “solid range at great prices”.

International brands selling goods through Trade Me isn’t new.

Head of Trade Me marketplace Stuart McLean says the site has many other international brands, including ApparelSave from the US, Surfstitch from Australia, SportsDirect from the UK and ShoeCenter from the US.

“These may not be familiar brand names to Kiwi consumers, but these offshore sellers stock popular brands like Nike, Calvin Klein, Gucci and plenty more,” McLean says.

Target Australia doesn’t currently ship through its website to New Zealand, so Trade Me provides the missing link for the retailer.

McLean says from a general standpoint, international retailers use offshore marketplaces as an easy way to enter new markets.

“Setting up an online presence on a number of ecommerce sites is fairly common practice for global sellers as part of their strategy.”

As of 3pm on March 21, a wide range of semi-automatic weapons have been reclassified under section 74A(c) of the Arms Act as requiring an E endorsement on a firearms license. This means they can no longer be sold to those with A-category gun licenses, and their purchase now requires police approval.
