Digital channels manager Melanie Cameron says the new retail.kiwi website fits in with with the organisaton’s broader rebranding, which is aimed at modernising Retail NZ. She says the team is excited to see its site become mobile-optimised because this is an important trend in the broader retail industry.
“We’re encouraging retailers to embrace digital, omni-channel, and new technologies – so we really needed to be walking the walk and leading by example.”
The new site boasts a dynamic homepage, the ability to be searched by keyword, easier navigation and an events calendar. Coming soon will be a member dashboard, which will allow users to register and pay for events online with their credit or debit card. They will also be able to access invoices, update their information or listing in the suppliers’ directory, contact an advisor or download resources from the dash.
Cameron managed the development, working with a designer at Rabid Technologies to come up with the look and feel of the site before working with developers to make it functional. She says Retail NZ is “really, really happy” with the result, saying that within a week of the new website’s launch, it has gone from averaging 100 visitors each day to 1000.
Retail NZ will be running some website seminars and workshops on social media, digital technology and SEO later in the year, says Cameron.
