Popular record store Real Groovy is moving for the sixth time in 30 years, this time only making a small hike up Queen Street where it will resettle.
Previously a Salvation Army Citadel, the store is moving from 369 Queen to 520 Queen Street, since its home of the last three years will become the new space of Queen Square Apartments.
The new store, of which an eight-year lease has been given to Real Groovy, is still a sizable premise at 500 square metres with a further 400 square metres on another level where the brand will focus on its online offering.
Real Groovy has been riding the wave of the vinyl revival and can be considered Auckland’s most sought-after record store since it started in 1981. Now the brand has a bigger measure of security with the extended lease.
