World-famous doughnut brand Krispy Kreme has chosen New Lynn as the location for its new Hot Light store.
The Hot Light store, which will include a drive-thru and in-house production line, is scheduled to open early Q3. The store will be Krispy Kreme’s second Hot Light store in New Zealand and fifth location overall, and aims to create approximately 60 jobs.
Andrew McGuigan, CEO of Krispy Kreme, Australia and New Zealand, is excited to continue the brand’s New Zealand expansion, and make it easier for fans to get their hands on the iconic Original Glazed® doughnut fresh, hot and straight off the line.
“Our entry into New Zealand has seen real success and we’re pleased to be able to continue that in New Lynn. The suburb is quickly becoming a destination spot for Aucklanders with a rapidly growing population that deserves to experience the fun and joy that is Krispy Kreme,” says McGuigan.
“New Lynn will be a great new home for us and is going to make it so much easier for those dedicated West Auckland Krispy Kreme fans to enjoy a delicious doughnut treat.”
“We also know from chatting with customers that a lot of them already travel to our Manukau Hot Light store from West Auckland. They’ve been asking us to open to in West Auckland for a while so it’s great to finally be able to say it is happening.”
Located at 3050 Great North Road, this second Hot Light store in NZ will take on a fresh, new white-walled and curved design to replicate the famous doughnuts, and will provide customers the ultimate craveable treat with a viewing ‘theatre’ to watch hot, freshly glazed doughnuts being made in front of their eyes.
Developed by Auckland-based Dominion Construction, the store will be approximately 260m squared of doughnut heaven.
McGuigan forecasts the store will be able to make up to 24,000 fresh Original Glazed® doughnuts each day. The doughnuts are all handcrafted from being dipped, sprinkled, piped and decorated, taking extra care to ensure each doughnut is of the highest quality.
Starting in 1937 as a hole-the-wall in North Carolina and known the world-over for its Original Glazed® doughnut, Krispy Kreme’s first New Zealand store opened in Manukau in 2017. The opening was a major event in New Zealand retail and one of the company’s biggest stores launches ever.
Since then it has now expanded to five locations as well as forming a partnership with BP New Zealand that each day sees fresh doughnuts delivered to more than 90 fuel stations throughout the country.
The 60 jobs will be both full and part time and at all levels of the business. McGuigan promises successful applicants an ‘irresitably original’ culture.
“We’re looking for people from all different backgrounds and all different cultures who can come together to be a part of the Krispy Kreme family. Our culture is just like our brand with great people at its heart and a dediction to bringing customers sweet moments of joy,” says McGuigan.
“As we talk about the Original Glazed being the Irresistible Original we talk about our culture as being Irresistibly Original, with every Krispy Kreme being their own original self.”
