A pop-up Dr. Martens exhibition will be running from 24-30 May at Westfield Newmarket.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Dr. Martens 1461 shoes rolling off the production line, the renowned brand is collaborating with emerging New Zealand artists and giving them a platform to tell their stories.
Throughout history, Dr. Martens has been adopted and subverted by diverse individuals, musicians, youth cultures, and niches. The 60th-anniversary pop-up pays homage to the 1461 shoe while celebrating individuals that form part of the ever-growing Docs community.
Local creatives, Lochie Stonehouse, Jimmy D, Portia Prince & Miro have each customised a pair of the famous 1461 shoe, which will be displayed at the exhibition.
On Friday May 28th (5 pm – 7pm) and Saturday May 29th (11am – 2pm), Docs lovers will have the opportunity to bring their own pair to the pop-up space to be personalised by Auckland-based artist Finn Wilson.
The exhibition can be found at Westfield Newmarket, Auckland (Level 1, opp Under Armour).
