2021 marks the 32nd year of the MLT Hokonui Fashion Design Awards, the longest running fashion design awards of its kind in New Zealand.
Born in 1988, the awards bring recognition to the aspiring fashion designers of New Zealand, giving them the platform to showcase their designs infront of well-regarded industry leaders.
Held in Gore in late July, this year the event sees the introduction of the following judges, Kathryn Wilson, designer and founder of Kathryn Wilson Footwear, James Dobson, designer and founder of Jimmy D and Sara-Jane Duff, designer and owner of Lost and Led Astray.
Previous years have included judges such as Karen Walker, Nic Blanchet, Francis Hooper, Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester, Liz Findlay, Doris Du Pont and Margi Robertson (of NOM*d).
Entries are open until Tuesday 1st June and tickets to the two evening shows will be available from Wednesday 23rd June.
The School section winners will be announced at the MLT Hokonui Strictly Design Evening on Friday 23rd July, with the Open section winners announced at the MLT Hokonui Gala Awards Evening on Saturday 24th July.
