David Jones masters the art of Christmas 2020 with Selfie Santa

With over 180 Christmases behind its belt, David Jones continues to master the art of celebrating the festive season. Following the events of the year, David Jones has changed up what the ‘traditional’ Santa photo usually looks like.

Selfie Santa and his Social Distancing Elves are roaming stores with an oversized Christmas Bon-Bon, ready for customers to snap a selfie on their own smart phones. The response so far has been positive, particularly because there is no need for customers to book or queue in advance for a photo.

And for those unable to make it into the store, David Jones are continuing their complimentary virtual styling and gift expert services in New Zealand. Customers can book online to connect with expert stylists via video call, as well as enjoy a personalised edit of products which can be shipped anywhere in New Zealand.

This is also the first year of The David Jones Christmas Appeal in New Zealand in support of the Red Cross, open to customer donations at all David Jones registers nationwide until Christmas Eve.

With a store in Wellington and now Auckland in Westfield Newmarket, David Jones has been delighted by the response to its new location. A David Jones spokesperson says “increasingly, our customers have shopping local brands especially within our womenswear offering which is fantastic to see. New Zealand labels make up a significant proportion of our brand mix including Karen Walker, Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester, Paris Georgia, Harris Tapper and Wynn Hamlyn, and accessories brand Deadly Ponies. Within Beauty, we’re also very excited to have just launched Emma Lewisham, a New Zealand based clean skincare brand.”

A spokesperson says of the department store’s continued growth in the New Zealand market: “we’re always to working to enhance our offering be it via the introduction of new brands or new services and we’re looking forward to serving our Kiwi customers in 2021.”
