Just in time for summer, LF Seltzer and Island Gelato have teamed up to create a delicious trio of boozy ice creams that compliment LF Seltzer’s range of RTDs. Who wouldn’t enjoy a wine-infused gelato on a sunny afternoon, washed down with a refreshing seltzer or two?
LF Seltzers were the response to the growing demand for a refreshing, clean, and delicious drink option. Lettfield winemaker Richard Painter says rather than following the crowd, it was important for the team to craft a product beyond the status quo.
“Wine as it turns out is the perfect base for a seltzer and offers a delicious taste experience. Drinkers get our premium wines with sparkling water and delicious, natural flavours all sourced from New Zealand in a low calorie low sugar package.
“We thought we already make delicious wine, why not make a delicious Wine Seltzer that opens up a whole new occasion for LF.”
To take the Seltzers one step further, Lettfield sparked the idea to pair them with a matching ice cream, and who better to partner with than Waiheke-based gelato company, Island Gelato.
Island Gelato was launched in 2014 by Masterchef runner up Ana Schwarz and partner Geoff Tippett. Since then the brand has produced hundreds of weird and wonderful gelato flavours that have given Island Gelato its national recognition. Schwarz says they are constantly adapting, experimenting, and testing in the pursuit of that perfect mouthful of excitement.
“We’ve done everything from charcoal and coconut to goat cheese, blueberry, and rose, so naturally we jumped at the chance to create wine seltzer spike scoops with the LF Seltzer team.”
The partnership between LF Seltzer and Island Gelato has resulted in three delectable, vegan-friendly flavours that match LF Seltzer’s debut range, all of which are infused by the product itself. Yuzu, Mint, Cucumber and Sauvignon Blanc, Strawberry and Hibiscus with Rose, and Pear and Ginger with Pinot Gris are the three flavours tasters are able to indulge in.
To launch the products straight into the community, LF Seltzer has a pop-up parlour providing the gelatos at Auckland’s SweatShop brewery. Complete with an ultra-grammable see-saw and scoopalicious servers, the pop-up will be open from Thursday to Sunday every week in November, just in time for the warmer weather. Punters can enjoy a free scoop of their choice with every can of LF Seltzer purchased.
“Beyond great gelato, it’s important to us that customers also have a funky space and vibey atmosphere to enjoy their scoop so the creative feel of LF Seltzer Scoop Shop was the perfect fit,” says Schwarz.
The success of a collaboration, Schwarz says, comes down to like-mindedness and community.
“Its about doing something interesting with similar brands where there is a new dimension added to your brand experience.”
Painter says the Island Gelato team have made the partnership a great one.
