From Neiman Marcus & Selfridges to New Zealand: D LY P comes home

Renowned leather goods brand, Deadly Ponies, presents their first in-store pop-up; an experiential space designed by Creative Director and Founder, Liam Bowden, to showcase and celebrate their design lab, D LY P. With a high-octane installation, the concept space takes inspiration from the freewheeling summers of the ‘90s in a collision of colour seen across the capsule.

Predominantly available in North American and British stockists such as Selfridges, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodmans and Shopbop, this is the first time the complete D LY P collection has been available in-store in New Zealand.

A Deadly Ponies spokesperson explains of the pop-up: “with COVID changing the face of the international retail landscape, we felt the time was right to share D LY P with our local community here in our New Zealand stores for the first time. We are excited to integrate the playfulness of D LY P into our Deadly Ponies collections – pushing our traditional creative boundaries.”

Branching beyond handbags, surfboards are also included as part of the collection: “the entire installation will be touring our pop-up locations, with the custom-designed surfboards available to order online and in-store. The concept behind the pop-up space explored a return to the freewheeling summers’ of our youth, with a collision of high-octane shades and playful structures. The surfboards are complemented in situ with our spray painted plinths, backdrops and window installations; heralding the warmer months with euphoric escapism.”

Born to creatively challenge Deadly Ponies’ founders, D LY P is defined by playful structures, bold colour palettes and internationally inspired silhouettes. In feature materials such as luxe satin, high-gloss croc-embossed textures and matte pop colours, the D LY P Pre-Fall ‘20 collection continues to push boundaries, blurring the lines between accessories and art expression. With a colour palette euphoric of Barbie zeitgeist, the collection explores hues of azure, pistachio, raspberry, and bordeaux, with graffiti inspired gradients – along with classics midnight, camel and dove.

The pop-up space will be available to experience in Deadly Ponies Ponsonby between 1st October – 4th November 2020, before moving to Britomart, and finally travelling to stockist, Sisters & Co in Mount Maunganui. The D LY P collection is available to shop in-store, at selected stockists, and online at deadlyponies.com.
