Simon West, who has 20 years’ experience leading companies like Ezibuy, has been appointed the chief executive of The Warehouse Group’s outdoor retailer Torpedo7.
He has most recently held a non-executive director position at Trade Me and was an executive director at Max Fashions. Other roles have included the CEO of Ezibuy. He is currently a director of ecommerce sale site Onceit and listed Australian homewares retailer Adairs.West’s appointment represents Torpedo7’s first stand-alone chief executive. Noel Leeming chief executive Tim Edwards previously held responsibility across both businesses. West will sit on The Warehouse Group’s senior executive team and report to The Warehouse Group chief executive Nick Grayston. He begins with Torpedo7 on August 2.
“Simon is well used to working in businesses undergoing growth which is part of the current focus for Torpedo7,” Grayston says. “In the past year Torpedo7 has opened four new stores, taking its total to 18 plus one franchise in Wanaka. It is currently in the process of transforming the brand with key focus areas including bike, snow, water, camping and apparel.”
Additionally, The Warehouse Group’s daily deals business 1-day will be added to Michelle Anderson’s chief digital officer portfolio of group ecommerce brands.
