Prescription lense supplier Essilor has appointed a local national sales and marketing manager for the first time. Kumuda Setty will fill the newly-created role. It’s also soon to start looking for a new New Zealand general manager.
Setty has been Essilor’s New Zealand marketing manager for eight years, and has more than 25 years’ experience in commercial roles.
In the new role, she will manage the relationships with New Zealand independent optometrists and eyewear retailers, and take responsibility for sales and marketing of Essilor product lines. She says Essilor’s customer base can expect to see a more coordinated approach.
Chief executive of Essilor Australia New Zealand, Pierre Longerna, says the new structure will allow greater cross-functional integration.
“This is a very exciting time to be working in this industry and we are really pleased with our new sales team structure with Kumuda, Vineet, Guy, Bruce and Gordon who have a good understanding of the New Zealand market. They have experience in meeting the needs of our many independent optometrists and they will work closely with our New Zealand operations team headed by Chandra Setty to ensure smooth and uninterrupted service.”
The role was created to fill a gap left by business manager Chris Aldous, who had worked with Essilor for eight years. He left to pursue a role outside the optical industry.
Essilor is about to begin recruitment for a new New Zealand general manager.
