Sylvia Park had just about everything, but it didn’t have a Kmart – until now

New Zealand’s largest shopping centre, Sylvia Park, has announced the arrival of Kmart to its line-up of more than 200 retailers.

Kmart has been expanding its New Zealand presence at a rapid pace, with four new locations announced in the current financial year alone, but this is its first new Auckland store for more than 10 years. The Sylvia Park Kmart will join the centre’s $223 million Galleria project, along with 60 other new retailers. The 5,000 square metre store will occupy Countdown’s former space at the southern end of Sylvia Park.

Kmart’s Head of Property (Department Stores Division) in Australia and New Zealand, Ben Smith, says: “We are thrilled to announce that Sylvia Park will join our Kmart store network in 2019. This will be our seventh store in Auckland and the first we have opened in Auckland in over ten years. This continues our expansion in New Zealand – in this financial year we have announced four new locations across New Zealand, with a fifth new store still to be announced.”
Kiwi Property’s GM Retail, Linda Trainer, described Kmart as “exactly the type of retailer we want at Sylvia Park”.

“Kmart is an outstanding addition to our retail line up,” she says. “They have proven time and again that they are prepared to listen to their customers and give them exciting new products and experiences, for the right price.”
