Porirua shopping centre North City has been purchased by Australian property business Angaet Group from Kiwi Property, and Colliers International has been appointed manager of the centre.
Australian private investor Nick DiMauro’s Angaet Group acquired North City for $100 million in April 2018. Angaet’s portfolio of assets includes more than 25 other shopping centres around Australia.
“North City is a vibrant shopping centre, and we are committed to ensuring continuity for its retailers and the community,” DiMauro says.
North City has 68 specialty retail tenants, plus 11 kiosks, 11 food court tenants plus office accommodation and a Reading cinemas complex. Farmers and Kmart are its flagships.
Colliers has confirmed retailers will continue to redeem gift cards issued by Kiwi Property.
Richard James, national director of real estate management at Colliers International says his team wants to ensure the best possible shopping experience for the community.
“We have a depth of knowledge across large retail assets that is unrivalled in the New Zealand market,” he says. “North City has been an iconic shopping destination for the Porirua community for more than 25 years, and we see huge opportunities ahead.”
Colliers took over management of the centre from July 9, and immediately initiated a big push for engagement across its newly-created digital and social media using giveaways.
Those signing up to the centre’s new website go into a draw to win a $1,000 voucher, and those who like the new Facebook page get the chance to win a $500 gift card.
A range of children’s events targeted at the school holiday crowd have also been announced.
