Auckland’s 277 Westfield Newmarket centre is part way through a complete redevelopment. The process is Scentre Group’s largest project currently.
Both 277 and neighbouring site have both begun the process of redevelopment, with the latter already showing new bones of the centre to come.
Construction so far is on track, with the $790 million project forecasted to open in the last quarter of 2019.
The site has some impressive numbers behind it:
- 7100 tonnes of structural steel required
- 186,436 square metres of concrete floor being built
- 8.6 hectors of wall lining required
- 2700 square metres of green wall façade
The development is huge opportunity for Newmarket’s retail scene to grow too, with 230 new speciality stores expected along with Auckland’s first David Jones.
The process is still underway, with those in the area able to see the bones of what is soon to be the flagship Westfield living centre in New Zealand.
