Bella cucina: Where appliance meets fashion

Dolce and Gabbana has united with Smeg once more. The new collection offers an entire kitchen set up, decorated by a small group of artists for a not so small price tag.

Decked out in D&G’s signature southern Italy-inspired motifs, the collection includes a juicer, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and a blender. Basically, it encompasses everything you need to equip your kitchen with added Sicilian vibes.

No doubt beautifully designed and expertly crafted, the products come with a hefty price tag. Each small appliance averages around USD$600, while the larger oven and extractor’s price has yet to be announced.

Yet the consumers the two companies usually target are not the ones that would think twice about spending $50,000 on a hand painted fridge.

Back In February, the two unveiled a second collaborative kitchen appliance capsule and are now following suit with a pattern-heavy Victoria range cooker, extractor hood, and Smeg’s world-renowned FAB28 fridge.

This isn’t the first time the two Italian companies have teamed up on a project, however. In fact, this line follows in the footsteps of 100 limited-edition refrigerators that were unveiled at least year’s Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan.

Having recently unveiled the third ‘Divina Cucina’ drop at Milan’s Salone de Mobile design fair, those looking to cop the collection can expect a rollout via Smeg’s flagship store in London later this year. Followed by special orders online to dedicated customers.
