Zara hints at upcoming New Zealand ecommerce store

Spanish-owned fast fashion giant Zara sent waves through New Zealand retail when its first Kiwi store opened at Auckland’s Sylvia Park shopping centre in October 2016. Now, it’s about to introduce online shopping to its New Zealand offering.

The 1,850 square metre store at Sylvia Park carries all of Zara’s main lines – Woman, Basic, Trafaluc, Kids and Man – and caters specifically to southern-hemisphere taste.

While its competitor H&M launched a local website without ecommerce capabilities, Kiwi shoppers wanting to research Zara before making the trip to Mt Wellington must still visit one of its international websites.

That looks likely to change based on changes to how the notoriously-secretive retailer’s treats web traffic from New Zealand. There’s now a Kiwi website with placeholder content, signaling the arrival of online shopping.

The website says this will happen “soon”. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
