Visa calls for creative start-ups with the Everywhere Initiative

Start-ups with women in leadership positions are being encouraged to contribute to the evolution of the payments landscape through Visa’s second annual Everywhere Initiative.

In the Everywhere Initiative, start-ups are challenged to use Visa Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to create consumer or B2B payments solutions. The competition is open for entries now, and will culminate in a pitch event for finalists at the Women in Payments Symposium on November 21 in Sydney.

Visa’s country manager for New Zealand and the South Pacific, Marty Kerr, says retailers can look forward to seeing some exciting initiatives eventually resulting from the competition.

“Through Visa’s Everywhere Initiative we’re accelerating the drive towards new retail experiences for both merchants and their customers,” Kerr says. “The payment moment is such an important part of the overall retail experience and in recent years, we’ve seen exciting developments in how people pay – from Visa payWave, to phones, watches, installment plans and order ahead apps. We’re looking forward to seeing more creative ideas that push the boundaries on today’s retail experience from Kiwi start-ups.”
