Trade Me positions itself to acquire Motorcentral software company

Online marketplace Trade Me has a number of businesses linked to the motoring industry – AutoBase, DealerBase and MotorWeb. It’s now applied to the Commerce Commission for clearance to acquire Limelight Software Limited, trading as Motorcentral, which makes software for car dealerships.rn

Online marketplace Trade Me has a number of businesses linked to the motoring industry – AutoBase, DealerBase and MotorWeb. It’s now applied to the Commerce Commission for clearance to acquire Limelight Software Limited, trading as Motorcentral, which makes software for car dealerships.

Trade Me’s ‘Trade Me Motors’ division includes its own online vehicle classified advertising business, plus a similar business, AutoBase. It also operates aggregator software for motor vehicle dealers, DealerBase, and MotorWeb, which provides motor vehicle information and reports.

It’s entered into a conditional agreement to purchase Motorcentral, which supplies cloud-based software and websites to motor vehicle dealers. The business is based in Christchurch and has 15 staff.

“Motorcentral’s system provides dealers with an easy-to-use platform that combines inventory management, customer relationship management, advertising plug-in options and website functions,” says Trade Me.

In a post to its Facebook page, Motorcentral assured clients that if the sale does go ahead, it will result in “business as usual” with no change in staff or business practice.
