Four Square Tekapo has officially opened its doors to awaiting locals, the new supermarket claims to sport one of the best views from its new establishment – Lake Tekapo.
The Four Square comes at a time of fast growth for the McKenzie District, catering to both tourists and locals a like.
Foursquare has around 280 locations in New Zealand, with its iconic logo and mascot instantly recognisable for all Kiwi’s.
Now Tekapo join the fray as the newest store comes with scenic views looking over the lake itself.
Steve Alexander, Four Square group manager for Foodstuffs South Island, says capturing the view was an important part of the design brief.
“It was non-negotiable and we think it’s worth it. There will be plenty of people who will be totally captivated by the view of glacial blue water and the soaring mountains.”
Owner and operators, Russell and Leslie Jefferies, say the growth of people living within the area and increased number of tourists will bode well for the new supermarket.
“Tekapo has been groaning at the seams trying to cope. We worked closely with the local Council to address the needs of the community with a new store that offers more space, more products and a better shopping experience. We can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction.”
The Four Square Tekapo supermarket will throw open its doors on June 28, 2017, following a ceremony with local dignitaries, fantastic in-store specials and a brief concert from Lake Tekapo School.
Deliveries at dawn.
The new supermarket offers a much expanded range with a focus on fresh produce and grocery essentials.
Jefferies says the store will also include on-site barista made coffee which will cater to customers.
“The only issue is that on a chilly winter’s day we’ll be hard-pressed to move people out of the store as they drink in the view with their flat white.”
