The Australia-based owner of EziBuy, Woolworths Group, has confirmed that the multi-channel clothing and homewares company has been acquired by Sydney investment firm Alceon Group for an undisclosed sum.
Woolworths Group acquired EziBuy for NZ$350m in 2013, and announced its plan to exit the business in mid-2016. EziBuy was founded in Palmerston North more than 35 years ago as a catalogue company, and has successfully transferred its business into an ecommerce-based model supplemented by catalogues. It mails out more than 23.5 million catalogues each year, and processes more than 1.75 million orders across Australasia.
According to Woolworths, it’s now the largest omnichannel retailer in Australasia. EziBuy’s head office is in Auckland, and it has retained a distribution and call centre in Palmerston North.
