Auckland Airport introduces Strata Club

Auckland Airport has introduced Strata Club, the latest installment that offers travelers personalised services and exclusive benefits.

Unlike most clubs, Strata club is free to join. It is an app based programme that allows customers to tailor their experience to suit them best.

Opened recently, the club is available to all international and domestic travellers, regardless of their airline and class of travel, as well as to everyone visiting Auckland Airport’s international and domestic terminals.

Strata Club Members will access their membership information using the Auckland Airport app which helps travellers plan a smooth journey to and through the airport, or using the Auckland Airport website.

Jason Delamore, Auckland Airport’s general manager – marketing and technology, says the club is a great new initiative to be able to learn more about their customers.

“It has been designed by our customers for our customers, and is part of an extensive programme of short- and long-term improvements that will help us offer a rewarding, personal experience to all our customers, every time they visit Auckland Airport.”

Strata Club has been in the works for a few years now, and according to Delamore is meant to create a more personal experience.

“The Strata Club launch builds on those earlier technology investments and becomes the base for us to continue to recognise our customers’ individual travel preferences.”

Strata Club is recognised in 25 different airport duty-free establishments, from Victoria’s Secret to Icebreaker. 4,495 people have already signed up for the new experience. Examples of benefits include longer access to free wi-fi, parking upgrades and discounts, and special offers from participating retailers.

But how does the new club work?

According to the release, members collect points based on their spending. $1= 1 point.

Points can be converted to vouchers and there are four tiers in the programme, appropriately titled Club, Silver, Gold, Platinum. The more a customer spends per annum the higher they are on the tier.

The Strata Lounge will replace the old Emperor Lounge which was set up in 2012. The Lounge is being expanded and refurbished and will open in a new location by Spring 2017.

The current Emperor Lounge which is to be converted to the new Strata Club Lounge.

The new addition to Auckland Airport is a step in the right direction as the airline is keeping up with consumer demand for a tailored experience.

The development of Strata Club is one of a number of investments Auckland Airport is undertaking to make customers’ journeys more rewarding. The company is also investing more than $1 million every working day on core airport infrastructure, such as the new flight gates, and expects this level of investment will likely continue into the near future.
