While the total revenue of Cotton On group worldwide soars past AU$2 billion, country manager Mark Singleton is preparing to dive 192 metres off Auckland’s Sky Tower for charity. Twenty seven bosses and community leaders are doing the same as part of the Graeme Dingle Foundation’s fundraising challenge this Thursday.
Cotton On Group chief executive Peter Johnson told Melbourne paper The Age that the company would open another 250 stores around the world during this financial year. The group spans seven brands and has more than 1400 stores in 18 countries.
Singleton, its top Kiwi boss, will be overcoming vertigo to make his leap. He’ll be there representing Supre, a teen retailer acquired by Cotton On Group in 2013. Representatives from NorthWest mall owner Stride Property, Les Mills and Sanitarium will be jumping with him, as well as other prominent Kiwis.
Graeme Dingle, the foundation’s founder, says the Sky Tower challenge was conceived out of consideration for the challenges faced by so many young people in New Zealand.
“We wanted to challenge the business community in the same way – and we’re delighted with the number of business leaders that are on board this year, and encouraged others to support our work,” Dingle says.
All funds raised will go towards supporting the Graeme Dingle Foundation’s child and youth development programmes, which include Kiwi Can, Stars, Career Navigator and Project K. Participants have already contributed over $25,000 via their individual Givealittle pages.
