“Obviously we had a lot of population movement north following the earthquakes and we are following in order to reach out to our customer base up there,” says Bivouac Outdoor managing director Wayne Martin.
The new store will have 1200 square metres of premium outdoor products, including leading apparel brands like Icebreaker, The North Face, Arcteryx and Outdoor Research.
Bivouac Outdoor was founded in Auckland in 1988. It now has 12 stores nationwide, which are evenly spread across the North Island and South Island. It employs around 130 retail staff and reported same-store sales growth of over 17 percent in the last financial year.
