Designers confirmed for 2015 New Zealand Fashion Week

An exciting mix of new names and old populate the 85-strong provisional designer line-up for this year’s New Zealand Fashion Week, which was announced yesterday.

The week will run from August 24 until the end of the month, with most shows held at the ANZ Viaduct Event Centre. Among the better-known names showing collections are Zambesi, NOM*d, Hailwood, Twenty-Seven Names, Andrew Moore and Annah Stretton, with Ruby and Stolen Girlfriends Club showing off-site.

Popular designer Kate Sylvester will present two shows, opening the publicly-attended ‘Fashion Weekend’ event and presenting a different collection as this year’s ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer.

New designers on the schedule include Harman Grubisa, a duo from Auckland; Wellington’s Lucilla Gray, and Sydney-based Third Form. They will join a line-up of fresh talent in the ‘New Generation’ showcase.

NZFW managing director Dame Pieter Stewart described this year’s group of designers as “strong”. She says she is especially looking forward to the Miromoda showcase for its talented Maori designers.

“We’re hugely excited about the 85 designers and exhibitors we have confirmed for 2015. New Zealand Fashion Week remains a central hub for the local fashion industry and the key platform for both new and established designers to showcase their 2016 collections. This line up reflects the excellence, innovation and diversity that exists in the New Zealand fashion community – something we passionately endeavor to promote and maintain.”
