Feeling anxious at the thought of running out of toilet paper or instant macaroni cheese? Never fear – Amazon has released a grocery panic button to American customers which instantly reorders products when pressed.
The branded Dash buttons are made to be stuck or hung around the house for easy access. They connect to users’ home wifi via Amazon’s smartphone app and once the right settings are activated, a single click automatically places an order for a single product matching the button’s branded casing through Amazon’s shopping network.
“When you’re running low, simply press Dash Button, and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store.”
The buttons are free, but are given out exclusively to members of the more expensive Amazon Prime customer group. Customers can get up to three buttons at a time.
The array of products available for order through the Dash Button is an interesting insight into what Amazon Prime users fear to be without. There’s the logical inclusions – toilet paper, rubbish bags, nappies, coffee, razor blades – but also “fortified sparkling juice,” Easy Mac and full-sized face creams, which you might expect to last a while.
Amazon was last week given the go-ahead by US flight safety officials to start testing its drone delivery service. If all goes well, we may never run out of anything again.
