Cyber support for local retailers from the #BuyKiwi campaign

Retail NZ has launched a new campaign across social media and brick-and-mortar stores to remind New Zealand shoppers that they can support their local communities, encourage economic growth and the proliferation of small boutique shops, reduce environmental impact and help keep jobs in New Zealand by buying closer to home.
“Online shopping is increasingly popular, but whether you’re buying online or over the counter our #BuyKiwi campaign is designed to inspire New Zealanders to shop locally,” says Retail NZ CEO Mark Johnston. “No matter who you’re buying for, there are local stores that can help you find that special gift – plus anything you buy in New Zealand is covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act, providing peace of mind in case of any problems.”

Retailers are encouraged to share their products on social media using the #BuyKiwi hashtag. Consumers can get involved too and inspire others to shop locally by sharing their purchases on social media using the same hashtag.

Retail NZ are supporting the campaign by featuring the best bits on their blog, as well as their Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram channels.
