North Beach to open in Christchurch

Surf and skate apparel store North Beach has plans to open its first South Island store in Christchurch's fast growing CBD, just in time for Christmas.

The outdoor focused brand has 12 current stores, based mainly around Auckland and other parts of the North Island. Now the brand has announced an opening of a South Island store in Christchurch's central shopping area.

North Beach has leased 500 square-metre m on Colombo Street, next to Ballantynes and is aiming to open on December 1.

North Beach began in the early 1990s, with a small market stall in Auckland. Now they have 12 stores nationwide and a strong online presence. The store holds over 100 different brands and is a staple among surf and skating consumers.

North Beach is one of many retailers slowly making their way into Christchurch's central retail district. So far this year brands such as Seed, Country Road, AS Colour, H&M and even Kathmandu's new headquarters are located in the area.
