Mecca Maxima draws crowds as it opens in Wellington

The social-media-driven trend for all things beauty rolls on with the opening of New Zealand’s second Mecca Maxima in Wellington. The cult beauty retailer opened its first outlet in Christchurch last year.

Mecca Maxima stores are intended to be a ‘blockbuster’ one-stop shop offering on-trend make-up brands and events. Mecca also offers a more boutique experience through its “high-touch, high-service” Mecca Cosmetica stores. There are two Mecca Cosmetica stores in Auckland, plus a concession at Ballantynes in Christchurch.

Mecca Maxima featured bloggers in its Wellington launch yesterday. It offered pink envelopes containing mystery vouchers for shoppers who spent $90 or more in-store, and a line of customers formed at the front door.

The below video was shot for the blog 'A Tale of Two Citys'.
