Adairs Homeware to open in Wellington

Popular homeware retailer, Adairs, has opened its third New Zealand retail store, this time taking its trends to the capital.

Adairs' two original flagship stores have seen busy foot traffic since opening in 2016 and it is expecting the same success for its Wellington store, which opens on the ground floor of the Centre Building Capital Gateway on Thorndon Quay on Saturday March 4.

In a press release, it said New Zealand’s booming property market and the popularity of home renovation shows like Grand Designs and The Block have seen Kiwis increasing spending on aspirational homewares.

CEO Mark Ronan says the team are really looking forward to taking Adairs to Wellington, a city full of culture and creativity. 

“With the success of the online store we’re excited to see how Wellington takes to our range of unique homewares. We wanted to venture to New Zealand to offer more choices and plan to expand across the country.”

Adairs Homeware Ltd is worth an estimated $253.1 million, with a net income of $27.17 million.

Adairs operates five formats: Adairs, Adairs Homemaker, Adairs Kids, Urban Home Republic, and online retail. It plans on adding to its 132-store network at a rate of 8 to 12 stores per year.

“To us it’s all about ensuring our collections are on-trend, but still different from other stores. We like to keep everything fresh so plan on new product drops every fortnight,” says Ronan.
